The Förtsch+Associates team works together creating innovative design, high quality technical detailing and responsible project administration services to provide clients with lasting investments in property they can be proud of. The partnership is built up from the synergy created by the complimentary skills and experience of its two partners; Reiner Förtsch as Architect and Barry du Plessis as construction law specialist and project administrator, as well as a highly motivated technical and adminsitrative team to support them in the drive to create high quality architecture both in design and in the final built product.

The partners chose to move to Nelspruit in 1998 to participate in and complete the Mpumalanga Provincial Government complex as Senior Design and co-ordinating architect and Senior Project Manager respectively - Since the completion of the project in 2001, the partners have chosen to remain in Nelspruit and explore the opportunities in the Lowveld area and established their own partnership in 2003.

The partnership has grown from strength to strength and have since then been responsible for the design and project management of a wide variety of successful building projects such as commercial offices, hotels, high density residential apartments, private residences, urban design projects, restuarants and the development of private residential estates.

Förtsch+Associates Architects have built up a client base of respected individuals and organizations who share in the common goal of producing lasting quality architecture in harmony with the environment and developing projects that define excellence.

Our Goals:

  • Produce world class architecture for clients in the Lowveld region and major South African and international cities – building on our existing reputation of producing quality architecture, high quality technical detailing, and strict application of quality control principles on site and effective project contract administration.
  • Maintain high standards of creativity in design and project management services to our clients and constantly explore new technologies and methods to achieve above average architecture that enhances the environment and the investment value of property and the living environment of its people.
  • Continuously educate ourselves and maintain a keen eye for contracts and dedicate ourselves to drive any project to successful completion within budget and time constraints, guiding our clients safely through the potential pitfalls of construction contracts.
  • Create architecture in harmony with the environment – responsible to nature and its various complexities and sensitivities - and protect the future of the planet. We are affiliated with the Green Building Council of South Africa and apply environmentally responsible and energy efficient principles in our designs.
